Devonport has extensive facilities for sport, with professional, amateur and community teams taking part.

Have a look at this list - how lucky are we? We have a county cricket ground, a couple of outdoor swimming pools on the shorefront, a brand-new sports centre, a professional rugby club on our doorstep - and then there is our locally famous and highly popular Devonport Boxing Club. Some links are below, the remainder to follow during 2009 for each of these sports.


Brickfields Sports Centre

A brand-new sports facility located at Madden Road, Devonport. Plymouth, PL1 4NE. Facilities at The Brickfields Sports Centre include: a four-court sports-hall, a large fitness suite with cardiovascular equipment, resistance equipment and free weights, a dance studio, a conference suite and two meeting rooms. The centre has disabled access.

Plymouth Coasters

A running club whose members meet at the Welcome Hall, Fore Street, Devonport. Sessions include: Running - Jogging - Walking. The organiser, Charlie Ede, says "We are a friendly club and welcome runners and walkers of all levels, from the 2 1/2 hour marathon runners to people who want to start from the beginning, and just to keep fit. We meet every Thursday at 6.15pm at the Welcome Hall. We then go out on various routes, after which have free tea and biccies and, where once we used to discuss Neighbours, we now give dancing lessons!! To be seen to be believed!!
