Devonport is....

... one of the most historic neighourhoods in Plymouth. We are located to the west of the city, with extensive frontage onto the river Tamar. The millenium has brought many changes to us, with improvements in our housing stock, in quality of life, reduced crime and increased health.

If you are a resident of Devonport we hope you find this website useful and educational - perhaps you will enjoy the section on the History of Devonport. If you are a visitor or plan to live here shortly in one of our new developments, we hope you learn why Devonport has a great future and why it will soon be one of the best places in Plymouth to live, work, play and visit.

This is one of Plymouth's character areas, even our names are quirky, such as Mutton Cove, Pottery Quay and North Corner. We're different. Come inside and have a look. Welcome to Devonport....

Change of Focus ! During February/March this website will undergo a change of Focus, from a community website that contains a history section, to being entirely history based. There will be two main Tabs ... Millennium Devonport , and Pre-Millennium Devonport. The material currently under the Community tabs (Living, Working, Playing, etc) will remain but will be grouped under the new Tab called 'Millennium Devonport'. It will no longer be updated but will function as 'history info', for those interested in what happened to Devonport during our regeneration/millenium decade, January 2000 to January 2010, a decade which is now history. The History tab will remain, along with its contents, but it's new label will be Pre-Millenium Devonport.
