Central Devonport

Following WWII the blitzed town centre of Devonport (the plot shown on the Google map below) was absorbed by the admiralty and various naval stores were built around the site - it became commonly known as 'the South Yard Enclave'.

The map below is dated 2012 but that was when it was downloaded; the image itself was taken in 2007 when the enclave had been returned to Devonport, when the naval stores buildings had been demolished, and Redrow had built their sales office in Chapel Street. From that point onward Redrow, the developers of the site, began their construction programme, bringing the old town centre back to life street-by-street. The first street they completed and brought back everyday use was the southern terrace along Granby Way (the northern-most road of this plot).
